Do you use the word nerd? Or have you been labelled a nerd? I often hear this word being used to describe people. I think it's a horrible word. What do you think?

Definition:
A foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.

Definition of contempt:
Deserving of or held in contempt; despicable.
Obsolete. contemptuous.

Definition of foolish:
Lacking good sense or judgement; unwise.

I have never liked the word "nerd" and have never used it in any form. I thought I'll add to your post:

Definition:
A despicable person - deserving to be despised : so worthless or obnoxious as to rouse moral indignation.

Honesty, it's an unpleasant word.

Rule of thumb: people label when they can. Labeling people becomes nasty when it's no longer factual. Factual would be age or gender. Subjective is "nerd" and "loner".

Who wants to be worthy only of being despised and rejected?
